Thematic diversity in Khadija Mastur's short stories
Abstract
Khadija Mastur's name is of immense importance among the female Urdu fiction writers. The number of her novels and collections of short stories is seven. But her novel “Aangan” proved to be such a novel that will always live in Urdu literature, rather, as its creator, Khadija Mastur's name will also live in Urdu literature. And she has written in Urdu on the sorrow of migration and women's problems in each of her writings with great skill and agility in a unique way. Being a woman, Khadija naturally sympathizes with women. The first story of her first collection of short stories, Khel, is in the background of a woman's loyalty and a man's infidelity and coincidentally, her last short story, Bharosa, is also on the same subject. The status, psychology and problems of women are her favorite topics. Thus, the number of her novels and short stories is seven. Khadija Mastur's progressiveness is clearly felt in both of her novels. She has portrayed the problems of social life well and excellently. She bases her novels on material facts and collective consciousness. So there is a huge diversity in her short stories.
