Abstract

This research explores the evolving dimensions of the Urdu short story in the context of creative diversity. The study focuses on contemporary short stories, often referred to as "Taza Kahani," to examine how narrative structure, linguistic innovation, and thematic depth have transformed in recent years. As Urdu fiction responds to shifting cultural, social, and psychological landscapes, new forms of expression have emerged that challenge traditional storytelling norms. This paper investigates how modern writers are employing fragmented structures, symbolic language, and experimental techniques to reflect complex individual and collective realities. Through critical analysis of selected short stories from the 21st century, the study highlights the richness and flexibility of the Urdu short story as a literary form. The paper further discusses how these narratives redefine meaning and identity within the broader framework of South Asian literature and global literary movements. The research ultimately contributes to understanding the dynamic role of creativity in shaping the future of Urdu fiction.
